UNIVERSITY “ST. KLIMENT OHRIDSKI” – BITOLA
The University “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Bitola, known by the acronim UKLO, is the second state public university in the Republic of Macedonia, the most important institution for the higher education in the region of the South-East Macedonia.
Almost 40 study programmes for undergraduate studies and 26 for graduate studies outspread at the 8 higher education units: 7 faculties and one higher vocational school, feature the specific, heterogenous educational offer of the university, that covers different scientific disciplines and educates profiles compatible with the actual demands from the labour market. Our University in relation to other universities in the country has a specific position. The University seat is in Bitola (>>>>>>>) and its units, the higher education institutions and research institutes, are settled down in many city centres: Bitola, Prilep, Ohrid, Skopje...with dispersed study programmes in Veles and many other places.
The dedication to young people education is in the centre of this pluralist surrounding, so explicitly embedded in the mission and vission statement of the University.
The University St. Kliment Ohridski – Bitola attractes approximately 3.000 new student per year, and the total number of students in the last years remains continuously about 13.000 students. (UKLO, Facts and Figures).
For about three decades’ continious development of UKLO, described on its history pages, represents consistent search after its specific identity that, on the beginning of this century, is affirmed through the sintagma: OPEN, FLEXIBLE, INTEGRATED IN SOCIETY, ACTIVE PARTNER IN SOCIAL ECONOMIC PROCESSES, READY TO FACE THE NEW CHALLENGES IN EDUCATION AND SCIENCE IN AN INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE.
Due to the fact that in the region this higher education institution has a leading role in the academic and scientific world, UKLO is driven by the key terms in running the university policy and strategy: contemporary, flexible study programmes, transparent organizational structure (organizational chart), dynamic human resources management, active policy for social integration of the University, creation of strong relations between the University and business sector, support of the new initiatives, internationalization as a focus point, implementation of quality culture in every sphere of the University functioning (UKLO, quality)...
